Rishabh Pant’s Playful LBW Banter Brings Laughter in Kanpur Test
Rishabh Pant has made a triumphant return to the Indian Test team, donning the whites once again in the ongoing Bangladesh series. This marks his first red-ball appearance since a severe car accident in December 2022. Back behind the stumps in Test cricket, Pant has quickly resumed his lively on-field chatter, much to the delight of fans. During the first India vs Bangladesh Test in Chennai, his humorous remarks were picked up on the stump mic, contributing to some light-hearted moments. Recently, Pant’s witty banter on Day 1 of the second Test in Kanpur has gone viral.
On the rain-hit opening day of the Kanpur Test, Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque became the subject of Rishabh Pant’s playful banter. Mominul was batting steadily when Pant decided to poke fun at him, creating a light-hearted moment on the field.
The incident took place during the 33rd over of Bangladesh’s innings, with Ravichandran Ashwin handling the bowling. Pant’s lively nature behind the stumps was on full display as he couldn’t resist adding some humor to the situation.
In a now-viral video, Pant can be heard jokingly saying, “Idhar se LBW le sakte hai helmet se. Helmet se ek LBW le sakte hai bhai.” (We can get him out LBW even on the helmet). His witty comment left fans in splits, adding an entertaining twist to the match.
Heavy showers forced an early end to play on the opening day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh, with the visitors reaching 107 for 3 in their first innings on Friday.
After lunch, Bangladesh managed to add 33 runs, but lost their skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 31, in the nine overs that were bowled before bad light stopped play.
Mushfiqur Rahim (6) and Mominul Haque (40) were at the crease when the break was called.
The match had already faced a delayed start by an hour due to a wet outfield following overnight rain.
India defeated Bangladesh by a big margin of 280 runs in the first Test of the two-match series in Chennai.
