“Singham Again Trailer Delivers Crowd-Pleasing Action in Classic Rohit Shetty Style, Promising a Strong Comeback for the Director.”

If the YRF Spy Universe created a “Batman vs. Superman” moment with Pathaan and Tiger 3, Rohit Shetty has taken it up a notch by delivering India’s very own desi Avengers with Singham Again. So, step aside Tiger and Pathaan, because “aa gayi hai police”. It might be a bit over-the-top, but it perfectly matches Rohit Shetty’s signature style—bold, in-your-face, and thoroughly entertaining. If the Singham Again trailer is any indication of what’s to come, Bollywood and moviegoers are in for a very Happy Diwali.
Singham Again’s Mass Appeal
The Singham Again trailer embraces every tried-and-tested formula unapologetically. Rohit Shetty masterfully blends these tropes into a highly entertaining package. Each of the many heroes gets a grand entry and a whistle-worthy moment. From showcasing Lal Chowk to references of ‘padosi mulk’ and a proud Jai Maharashtra, the film is all about playing to the gallery. But why is that considered a flaw? Indian films have been doing this for ages, and some have even turned into cult classics. Tamil and Telugu movies are praised for their larger-than-life appeal. So why shouldn’t Bollywood do the same and capitalize on its strengths? The success of Stree 2 has shown that audiences crave pure, simple entertainment, and Singham Again promises just that.
This brings us to Singham Again. After a blockbuster 2023 with hits like Shah Rukh Khan, Animal, and Gadar 2, this year has been rather quiet for Hindi cinema. Apart from Stree 2, there haven’t been many films that have made a significant impact. As a result, the industry’s hopes are pinned on the two big Diwali releases—Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3—to revive the box office. But whether they succeed or not will depend on several factors, and the quality of the films is just one of them.
What Works in the Singham Again Trailer
Could Singham Again be the festive blockbuster that Bollywood has been waiting for this year? The trailer certainly raises expectations. Ajay Devgn, reprising his role as Bajirao Singham, dominates the screen and stands out even in an ensemble cast reminiscent of the Avengers. His presence at the center is a major highlight. Kareena Kapoor shines as the female lead, while Arjun Kapoor as the antagonist brings a sense of menace and intensity, even in his brief appearance. And though Deepika Padukone as the ‘Lady Singham’ may have sparked mixed reactions, her screen presence and style are likely to draw more whistles in theaters than many of her male counterparts.
What Doesn’t Work in the Singham Again Trailer
While the Singham Again trailer has its strengths, there are a few flaws that could hinder its impact. The Ramayana references start off strong but quickly become repetitive and heavy-handed. Subtlety may not be Rohit Shetty’s style, but sometimes it’s better to let the audience draw their own conclusions rather than spoon-feeding every metaphor. Some cameos—like Tiger Shroff’s—feel out of place and don’t gel well with the beloved characters and actors in the film. Additionally, at nearly five minutes, the trailer itself feels overly long, almost like a short film. Have the makers revealed too much already? With most of the big reveals out, will there be anything left to surprise audiences come Diwali? Only time will tell.
Singham Again is more than just the return of Bajirao Singham—it’s also Rohit Shetty’s comeback as the master of masala entertainment. After the underwhelming response to Cirkus and the lukewarm reception of Indian Police Force, Shetty needed to prove he’s still got it and that his Cop Universe isn’t losing its spark. The Singham Again trailer suggests he’s going back to what he does best—flying cars, fiery explosions, and punchy dialogues. And it’s safe to say that the average moviegoer couldn’t be more excited!
