The debate around inflated box office numbers in Bollywood is intensifying, and Ajay Devgn has now voiced his concern. The Singham Again star emphasized the importance of transparency in box office figures, noting progress toward this goal.
Need for More Transparency
During a Pinkvilla Masterclass, Ajay addressed the current box office system, suggesting that Bollywood would benefit from real-time updates similar to those in China, which provides clearer data on sales and audience demographics. Responding to a question on this, Ajay said, “It is required and slowly, I think it is getting there. So, in a couple of years, everything is going to be transparent. It’s already getting transparent.” Director Rohit Shetty echoed Ajay’s call for greater box office clarity.
Ajay also expressed concern about the industry’s transformation, noting a shift from passion-driven films to a numbers-oriented approach. He remarked, “Filmmakers talk about numbers more than the script. First, there was only passion. Now the numbers have come in. And it hurts.”
On the Work Front
Ajay Devgn is winning over audiences again with Singham Again, reprising his role as Bajirao Singham in the latest installment of the franchise. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Salman Khan and has already crossed ₹250 crore since its November 1 release.
Beyond Singham Again, Ajay has a slate of projects lined up, including Azaad, Raid 2, De De Pyaar De 2, and Son of Sardar 2.
