India Successfully Neutralizes Missile-Drone Threat from Pakistan
In a significant escalation of hostilities, India successfully intercepted and neutralized a coordinated missile and drone attack launched by Pakistan on May 8, 2025. The Indian Ministry of Defence reported that eight Pakistani missiles were intercepted in Jammu’s Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia sectors. India’s S-400 air defence system played a crucial role in neutralizing these threats, ensuring no casualties or material losses were reported.
The attacks targeted military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and Jalandhar, with drones and missiles being used in the offensive. The Indian Armed Forces responded swiftly, employing both kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with standard operating procedures.
Intelligence Agencies Monitoring Border Activity After Attack Attempt
Following the attempted attacks, Indian intelligence agencies have been closely monitoring activities along the India-Pakistan border. The Ministry of Home Affairs convened a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which included the Directors General of BSF, CISF, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, the Union Home Secretary, and the Director of the Intelligence Bureau. The meeting focused on reviewing security along the India-Pakistan border and at airports across the country.
India’s armed forces have also been on high alert, with the Indian Army releasing footage showcasing its response to multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan during the night of May 8–9. The video follows a series of overnight attacks by the Pakistani Armed Forces, which included the use of drones and other munitions along the western border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
Government Urges Public Vigilance Amid Rising Tensions
The Indian government has urged the public to remain vigilant amid the rising tensions with Pakistan. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) flagged a barrage of coordinated disinformation being spread by certain social media handles and segments of the mainstream media in Pakistan, aiming to instill fear among the Indian public.
In response to the escalating situation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out missile strikes early Wednesday on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Bahawalpur, a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit. The military strikes were carried out under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The situation remains tense, with both nations on high alert. The Indian government continues to monitor the developments closely and has assured the public of its commitment to national security.
