The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched an innovative bike taxi service at 12 metro stations to address last-mile connectivity and reduce commuter frustration over reaching their destinations from metro stations. Available as part of a larger sustainable transit effort, this service provides electric bike taxis, designed for short, affordable trips within a 3-5 kilometer radius of each station, enhancing commuter convenience, reducing travel times, and supporting environmental goals.

The bike taxi service, available daily from 8 AM to 9 PM, comprises two distinct offerings: RYDR, which serves all commuters, and SheRides (SHERYDS), a female-only service led by women drivers and tailored to women’s safety and comfort needs. The initial deployment includes 150 RYDR bikes and 50 SheRides bikes, with both services accessible through DMRC’s updated Momentum app, also known as Delhi Sarathi 2.0, featuring GPS tracking for real-time safety monitoring and route optimization. Currently operating from metro stations like Dwarka Sector-21, Rajouri Garden, and Karol Bagh, these electric bike taxis offer a green alternative for passengers while focusing on affordability.

The SheRides initiative emphasizes passenger safety through a women-driven fleet, addressing concerns about female security in public transit.
