An Australian Test series is often seen as a career-shaping journey, one that turns a young player into a seasoned cricketer. With eight young players set to make their debut on Australian soil, including Yashaswi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, India’s senior stars Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli are guiding them through this transformative experience. The series begins on November 22, with the young talents eager to make a strong impression.
Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar shared insights from head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior players who reflected on their first tours of Australia. “The younger players are eager, ready to leave their mark by the tour’s end,” Nayar said. The series, described by bowling coach Morne Morkel as a “showpiece on the international calendar,” promises intense, hard-fought sessions with no ground given by either side.
India’s success in Australia has become a source of pride, with historic victories in both 2018-19 and 2020-21. India is the only Asian team to win a Test series in Australia and has claimed four consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophies, solidifying its position as Australia’s toughest rival in recent years.
