Karan Johar on Questions from His Children
In one of the episodes, actor Neelam Kothari opened up about her divorce from Rishi Sethia and her daughter, whom she adopted with her second husband, actor Samir Soni. Responding to Neelam’s story, Karan Johar shared his personal worries, saying, “That really moved me because I remember those days so clearly. I teared up and connected to it on an emotional level. My constant fear is that I will have to deal with questions from my own children about my circumstances and that I have a modern family situation.”
Karan, who is a single parent to Yash and Roohi, welcomed his twins in 2017 through surrogacy. Speaking about the challenges of being a single parent and the possibility of his children discovering certain things, Karan added, “They will find out things, and I will have to be answerable. Being a single parent, I know I am answerable to my children about so many aspects.”
Karan Johar has often been in the spotlight for his sexual orientation. In a 2020 interview with India Today, he said, “Everybody knows what my sexual orientation is. I don’t need to scream it out. If I need to spell it out, I won’t, only because I live in a country where I could possibly be jailed for saying this.”
Karan Johar’s Recent Work
Last year, Karan Johar made a successful return to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Despite that success, his production house Dharma Productions has experienced some box office disappointments, including Kill, Yodha, and Jigra. Recently, Karan sold a 50% stake in Dharma to businessman Adar Poonawalla for ₹1000 crore amid reports suggesting financial strain at the production house.
