Bengaluru In a significant move aimed at scaling operations, Lenskart, the renowned eyewear giant, has announced plans to establish a mega factory in the vicinity of Kempegowda Bengaluru International Airport. Peyush Bansal, the visionary founder and CEO of Lenskart, made the announcement via social media, signaling a major leap in the companys ambitious growth strategy. The sought-after location for this expansive project is within a 60 km radius of the airport, with the company looking to acquire a whopping 25 acres of land.
Lenskart is on the lookout for 25 acres of land within 60 kms of Kempegowda Bengaluru International Airport to build its next Mega Factory, Bansal shared, calling on sellers with suitable factory land to reach out. This move is seen as part of Lenskarts broader plan to bolster its manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure to meet growing demand both domestically and internationally.
The response to Bansals announcement was swift and supportive, with MB Patil, Karnatakas Minister for Commerce & Industries, Infrastructure, assuring government backing for the project. The government will support Lenskart in its endeavors, and concerned officials will soon be in touch with Mr. Bansal, Patil stated, highlighting the states commitment to fostering industrial growth and innovation.

This announcement comes at a time when Lenskart is reportedly preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), with indications that the company might soon go public. Navneet Govil, managing partner and chief financial officer at SoftBank Vision Fund, which is a significant investor in Lenskart, mentioned in an interview that the eyewear company is gearing up for its IPO. Bansal, in an earlier conversation with Business Today TV, confirmed the IPO plans but emphasized that the company was not in a rush to go public.
Founded in 2008, Lenskart has emerged as a dominant player in the eyewear industry, specializing in a wide array of products including eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and vision care solutions. With over 1,500 omnichannel stores spread across 175 cities in India, Singapore, and Dubai, the companys vision is to serve 1 billion eyes globally by 2025. This mega factory near Bengaluru is poised to be a cornerstone in achieving that vision, underscoring Lenskarts commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction in the eyewear sector.
