The Supreme Court is set to hear petitions about alleged paper leaks in NEET UG 2024. The hearing, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, will take place on July 18. After the court’s decision, counselling will start in the third week of July. The central government provided this information in an affidavit filed with the Supreme Court, including a report from IIT Madras on the NEET results. The government stated that any candidate involved in fraud will have their candidature canceled.
NEET UG Counselling Process
The central government explained that students can change their seat preferences in the first and second rounds of counselling. There will be a total of four rounds of counselling. If any seats are canceled before the third round, it will not affect the overall counselling and seat allotment. The detailed counselling schedule will be posted on the Medical Counselling Committee website at mcc.nic.in.
Third Round of NEET UG Counselling
The third round of NEET UG counselling 2024 is expected to begin in September. If a candidate’s seat is canceled after the third round, the vacant seats can still be offered in the following rounds. However, candidates who have already been allocated seats in earlier rounds will not be able to participate in later rounds.
Fourth and Final Round of Counselling
If a candidate’s seat is canceled after the fourth and final round, the vacant seats will be filled through an additional round, subject to the Supreme Court’s approval.
Upcoming Hearing
The Supreme Court will hear the petitions related to NEET UG on July 18. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud is leading the bench. The bench noted that the Center and NTA have filed their affidavits following the court’s July 8 order. Some petitioners’ lawyers have not yet received the affidavits, so the hearing has been rescheduled to July 18.
