Nitish Kumar Reddy showcased impressive batting skills in the second T20I between India and Bangladesh in New Delhi. The all-rounder played a match-winning innings, helping India secure an 86-run win and clinch the series 2-0.
Chasing a target of 222 runs, Bangladesh were held to 135/9 in 20 overs. Nitish also contributed with the ball, taking two wickets. Varun Chakravarthy impressed as well, finishing with figures of 2/19.
Batting at No. 4, Nitish scored a brilliant 74 off just 34 balls, hitting four fours and seven sixes. Rinku Singh also shined with a half-century, scoring 53 off 29 balls, including five fours and three sixes, as India posted a total of 221/9 in 20 overs.

In an interview with BCCI, Nitish expressed gratitude to head coach Gautam Gambhir for giving him “a lot of confidence.” He shared, “I should thank Gautam sir for this. He encouraged me to believe in my bowling.”
“He told me, ‘When you are bowling, think like a bowler, not just a batsman who can bowl.’ This advice really boosted my confidence,” Nitish added.
“Playing for India is already a proud moment, and getting the Man of the Match award makes me feel truly grateful. I just want to cherish this moment,” Nitish said.
Nitish came to the crease when India was struggling at 41/3. He then partnered with Rinku Singh to build a crucial century stand, taking the team to 149/4 in 13.2 overs before being dismissed. His brilliant all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Nitish was discovered by former Indian cricketer and selector MSK Prasad during U-12 and U-14 age group matches. He was then selected to train at the ACA Academy in Kadapa under coaches Madhusudhana Reddy and Srinivasa Rao. In the 2017-18 season, he won the BCCI’s Best Cricketer in the U-16 Jagmohan Dalmiya Award, becoming the first player from the Andhra Cricket Association to receive this honor.
