This Dhanteras is particularly special for actor Nushrratt Bharuccha as she recently became the owner of a swanky Range Rover, a car she describes as her “dream.” The timing of its arrival, however, was purely coincidental. “I think the universe aligned it because I booked the car about eight months ago, and it had its own waiting period. I had no idea when it would come — could be a day, two days, or months. I just said, ‘This is the car I want,’ and now it’s here,” she shares.
Keeping it a surprise, Nushrratt Bharuccha hadn’t even informed her parents. “Nobody knew about it except the dealer and me. When the car arrived, my mom was confused, saying, ‘Gaadi, kiski gaadi? Nushrratt Bharuccha ki gaadi to hai.’ I took mom and dad down, pulled the covers off, and they were shocked and overwhelmed. The emotions were on another level. Being their only child, it was a big moment for all of us,” she reveals.
Coming from a middle-class family, this luxury car is not just a purchase for her, she says: “Jab aap ek gaadi lena chahte hain jo aapke reach ke bahut baahar hoti hai, usko hard work karke jab aap apne paison se khareedte hain, wo bahut badi baat hoti hai. I come from a middle-class family, and no one in my family has ever owned a luxury car. So, Range Rover has always been my dream. Achieving that dream means a lot emotionally.”
Despite her excitement, Nushrratt Bharuccha has not driven the car yet. “I’m waiting to take my car out for a drive. I haven’t sat behind the wheel because of all the Diwali parties. I’ll take it out for my first drive on Dhanteras,” she says, emphasizing that the festival is not just about buying things. “On Dhanteras, I celebrate wealth as a whole. It’s not just about gold or silver but also the blessings of family, good health, and comfort in life.”
When asked about her Diwali plans, Nushrratt Bharuc shared, “I invite my friends in Mumbai who can’t go home for Diwali and hold a small puja at my home to bless us all. I light five diyas and pray, which brings a feeling of festivity and joy.”
