Prime Minister Narendra Modi today convened a high-profile roundtable with leading American technology CEOs, focusing on innovation, collaboration, and India’s expanding tech landscape. The meeting took place at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel as part of PM Modi’s three-day visit to the United States, with New York being the second leg of the tour.
Hosted by the MIT School of Engineering, the roundtable included leaders from companies specializing in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
Key attendees included prominent CEOs such as Sundar Pichai of Google, Jensen Huang of Nvidia, and Shantanu Narayen of Adobe.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi shared, “Had a productive roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing various aspects of technology and innovation. I also highlighted India’s remarkable progress in these areas. It’s encouraging to see such optimism towards India.”
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement emphasizing that the roundtable focused on cutting-edge sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, and semiconductor Innovation.
“The CEOs engaged in an in-depth discussion with the Prime Minister on the evolving global innovations landscape and how these advanced innovations are enhancing the well-being of people worldwide, including in India. They highlighted how technology is driving innovations with the potential to transform the global economy and advance human development,” the MEA said.
Regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI), Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s commitment to promoting “AI for All,” rooted in ethical and responsible usage.
He also assured the CEOs of India’s dedication to safeguarding intellectual property and fostering a supportive environment for technology-driven innovation. PM Modi encouraged the business leaders to take advantage of India’s growth potential, citing the country’s trajectory to become the world’s third-largest economy.
The discussion also explored opportunities to invest in India’s rapidly expanding startup ecosystem, where technology-driven innovations are accelerating. Startups were recognized as a key entry point for American companies into the Indian market, contributing to innovations and solutions.
MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the session, thanked PM Modi and the attending CEOs for their contributions. He reiterated MIT’s commitment to leveraging innovations for global good and enhancing collaboration between the U.S. and India in this crucial sector.
