Rajnath Singh Urges United Fight Against Terrorism at SCO Meet

A united fight against terrorism is the need of the hour, said India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China. Representing India, he called for global unity in tackling terrorism and emphasized that terrorism in any form is a threat to peace, development, and human rights across nations.

At the SCO meet, held in Qingdao, China, Singh strongly stressed that there should be no place for terrorism, its supporters, or any form of double standards when dealing with it. “There can be no justification for terrorism,” he stated firmly, underlining India’s consistent call for a united fight against terrorism.

Strong Stand by India at SCO Summit

India refused to sign a key SCO document that made indirect reference to Balochistan but ignored Pahalgam — a region affected by terror acts in India. As per a LiveMint report, Singh declined to endorse the SCO document due to this exclusion, reinforcing India’s clear stance on the issue.

Speaking at the summit, Rajnath Singh reiterated India’s commitment to national safety and collective security. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation among SCO countries to eliminate safe havens for terrorists and to block financial and logistical support for such groups.

According to New Indian Express, Singh said, “Terrorism is a global concern. The time has come for a collective and united fight against terrorism.” He also pointed out that nations should rise above political interests when it comes to national and international security.

India-China Diplomacy on Diplomatic Ground

While the summit was hosted in China, the presence of Rajnath Singh and his bold statements signal a clear diplomatic message from India. India emphasized that collective security must be built on trust, transparency, and a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

This comes at a time when India-China relations remain sensitive. Yet, India’s participation in the SCO reflects its willingness to engage in regional security conversations, provided national concerns are respected and addressed honestly.

Call for Collective Security and Cooperation

India’s focus at the SCO meet wasn’t limited to condemning terrorism. Rajnath Singh also stressed enhancing collaboration on issues of defense, economic development, and mutual respect among member countries. He pointed out that collective security can only be achieved if member nations agree on a shared definition of terrorism and work together to dismantle its global network.

The minister’s speech also highlighted the importance of sharing intelligence, joint counter-terrorism operations, and securing cyber and digital spaces that are increasingly being used by terror groups.

Conclusion

India’s firm message at the SCO summit—calling for a united fight against terrorism—sets the tone for regional and global counter-terrorism strategies. Rajnath Singh’s refusal to accept biased documentation and his powerful address underline India’s commitment to national safety, terrorism policy, and collective security. As the world continues to battle rising threats, only a truly united fight against terrorism can lead to a safer and more secure global future.
