Elon Musks internet company, Starlink, is working hard to start offering its service in India. This news comes right after they began providing fast internet in Argentina. Starlink wants to make the internet quick and easy to use everywhere in the world.
Getting Ready in India
Starlink is almost ready to work in India, but first, it needs to get some approvals. The company needs to explain who owns Starlink to the Indian government. Once they do that, they will get a special letter that says they can start planning to offer their internet service in India.
They also need a special permit that lets them send internet from satellites in space to people on the ground. This is the same thing that other companies like Jio and OneWeb are trying to get. But even after they get this permit, they need one more approval to set up their equipment on the ground.
Starlink and a few other companies are waiting for the Indian government to let them use the radio waves they need to send the internet to peoples homes. Amazon is also trying to get permission to start offering satellite internet in India.
Some Issues Along the Way
Starlink tried to start in India before but had to stop and give people their money back because they didnt have all the permissions they needed. They also had to say goodbye to the person who was in charge of Starlink in India.
We dont know yet how much Starlink will charge for its service in India, but it might be around Rs 1,58,000 for the first year. After that, it might cost less, around Rs 1,15,000 each year, including taxes.
What This Means
By starting in Argentina and planning to start in India, Starlink shows it wants to make fast internet available for everyone, no matter where they are. This could change how people around the world use the internet, especially in places where its hard to get online.
