A Taylor Swift fan “fought really, really hard” to overcome the lodging chaos surrounding the mega pop star’s concert stops.
The Grammy-winning “Gorgeous” singer is set to begin the second North American leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which played a key role in solidifying her status as a newly ranked billionaire. Swift will be performing in New Orleans this weekend, and thanks to dedicated fan Rebecca Fox, some of her fellow Swifties traveling from outside Louisiana won’t have to struggle to find affordable accommodations during the concert weekend.
Why did the Taylor Swift fan book 191 hotel rooms?
After over a year of hard work, Fox devised a thoughtful and creative solution to help fans flying in for the New Orleans shows. As reported by PEOPLE, Fox secured a block of 191 hotel rooms at a Holiday Inn. In addition to lodging, fans attending Swift’s concert can join Fox’s Eras Tour “convention,” now called “Holiday House,” a nod to the sentiment behind Swift’s song “The Last Great American Dynasty.” Fox was inspired to create this fan-centered experience after attending one of Swift’s shows on the tour and wanting to offer more immersive opportunities for fans.
Concertgoers know that securing tickets to a Taylor Swift concert is just one part of the challenge. The high costs of flights and hotels add to the pressure. Fox’s experience of attending Swift’s show in Phoenix—where she barely had time to connect with other fans—drove her to offer a more inclusive and immersive experience for others. “I didn’t get to trade bracelets, meet anyone, or take photos outside the stadium,” she shared. Determined to create a different experience for Swifties, Fox began planning a full weekend of events in New Orleans, allowing fans to connect with each other and fully enjoy the concert experience.
What inspired the New Orleans Swiftie to take this route?
Fox’s own experience led her to design a weekend filled with activities for Swifties to participate in. “I could have easily stayed at home and driven back and forth to the [Caesars] Superdome,” she said, “but I wanted to be fully immersed and enjoy every moment of it for the three days Taylor is here.” What started as a personal plan soon evolved into a large-scale event. “I selfishly planned the events I wanted to attend,” she explained, while also noting the global community she’s connected with through their shared love for Swift. “Before this, I knew only one other Swiftie in New Orleans, and now I have 40 dear friends here and thousands worldwide.”
Fox initially booked 20 rooms at the Hyatt Regency near the stadium, but when her request for additional rooms was declined, she moved her efforts to the Holiday Inn. There, she “fought really hard” to secure all 191 rooms for Swifties attending the concert. Fox emphasized that she’s done this at cost, charging only a $25 deposit to attendees, which will be refunded after the event.
Activities planned for the Taylor Swift convention
Fox has promised that the “Holiday House” convention will feature Taylor-themed and New Orleans-themed events running from October 24 to 28. Activities will include bracelet-making, scavenger hunts, and more, giving Swifties plenty of opportunities to connect and celebrate.
This report about Fox’s efforts coincides with a warning from Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill about potential hotel scams in New Orleans. Murrill urged concertgoers to be cautious and report any issues. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry also ordered the relocation of homeless individuals before the Eras Tour stop.
Gracie Abrams will be joining Taylor Swift for her performances at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans from October 25 to 27.
