Jammu and Kashmir: The Army stated that the search operation is actively progressing.

On Saturday morning, the Army announced that security forces successfully eliminated two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara during “Operation GUGALDHAR”.
“Security forces have eliminated two terrorists in the ongoing Operation GUGALDHAR. War-like stores have been recovered from the site. A thorough search of the area is underway, and the operation is still in progress,” the Army stated in its official release.
The Army provided further details, stating that vigilant troops detected suspicious activity and confronted the terrorists, which resulted in an intense exchange of fire.
“On October 4, 2024, acting on credible intelligence inputs regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation involving the Indian Army and J&K Police was initiated in the Gugaldhar area of Kupwara district. The alert troops, observing unusual movements, immediately challenged the suspects, prompting the terrorists to retaliate with gunfire. The security forces responded promptly with effective firepower, leading to a fierce gun battle. The operation is still underway as the area is being thoroughly searched to ensure it is completely secure,” the Army stated in its official report.
Earlier in the day, the Army confirmed that security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, showcasing the alertness and commitment of the forces to maintain peace and security in the region.
The operation is still going on and is being led by a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army, working together to clear the area of any remaining threats.
On Friday, two army personnel were injured in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara.
“In the wee hours, during patrolling at Googaldara near LoC in Trehgam area of the north Kashmir district, two army personnel got injured in a landmine blast,” the officials said.
The two personnel were admitted to the army hospital at Drugmulla. Their condition was stable.
